Eagle-eyed early arrivals would have noticed a meeting taking place in a first floor room at The Valley.

Michael Slater, Tony Jiminez, Richard Murray and a southern European looking guy were holding lengthy discussions.

On the pitch, Danny Seaborne had  recovered  to come in at left-back, allowing Salim Kerkar to revert to the left of midfield. Johnnie Jackson partnered Frimpong in the middle with Dale Stephens dropping to the bench. Up front, Yann Kermorgant started with Fuller and Rob Hulse dropped to the bench.

The first half was a turgid affair though Ben Hamer was called
upon to make a full length save to his right. The Addicks fashioned some good moves down the left but the teams went in at the break on level terms.

There was bad news for the Addicks halfway through the opening period though when Michael Morrison was booked for a foul on Lee Tomlin.

The largely dull match was brought to life 13 minutes from time by a truly stunning strike from Fuller. The Jamaican let fly from outside the area and the ball looped over Bobby Olejnik in the Peterborough goal.

Eight minutes later, Charlton sealed the win. Danny Green drove a hard low ball in from the right and Hulse stretched to make contact. The ball appeared to be trickling over the line but Yann Kermorgant applied the finishing touch from virtually on the line.

It certainly wasn’t a vintage performance from the hosts but the three points keeps them within striking distance of the play-off places.

Chris Powell will now concentrate on readying his side for Saturday’s derby game at Millwall.
